Multi-Mortise Index Jig
Multi-Mortise Index Jig
The Multi-Mortise Index Jig is a helpful jig when cutting multiple equally spaced mortises along the length of a workpiece. This is a common technique for slatted table tops, shelves, stair banisters and more. The jig has a registration pin that provides a positive stop for a previously cut mortise to register against. After the a mortise is cut, the workpiece indexes over to register against the new mortise. This process is repeated until all of the mortises are cut.
The location of the jig and the height of the stop pin are both independently adjustable making setup quick and easy.
We have made several iterations of this jig over the years for one project or another, but found it particularly helpful when building the Bedrosian elegant outdoor side table.
