The lowly pencil is one of the most important but under-celebrated tools in the shop. Our favorite is the Ticonderoga #2 and we buy them by the dozen, but it seems there’s never one at arm’s reach when we need it most so we made these magnetic pencil holders to stick to every power tool, tool box and bench in the shop.

We’ve purchased magnetic pencil holders from others but found them wimpy and poorly made, so we searched for the best materials and made our holders as compact as possible. We use an N52 neodymium with 6.5 lbs of pull and TPU to hold it to the pencil for decades. These things aren’t cheap but they flat-out work!

We send it with a branded red wooden pencil and when it’s used-up you can transfer the Mag-Holder to a new ¼” pencil of your choice.

Bonus! Our drill press chuck key is ¼” diameter, the same as a wooden pencil, so we use the Mag-Pencil Holder to stick it close to the chuck.
