Glass Panel Door

Project Description:

John Vasta bought his PantoRouter® last April to build doors and he’s used it not only for joining the styles and rails but also for the shaped muntins to divide the door for panes.  When he first received his PantoRouter John sent this note, which made us smile:

Just want to let you know that was the easiest assembly of a tool I've ever done ….  Beautiful finishing … the entire machine is immaculate.

Last week John sent some photos of his recent project and explained the jigs he made to solve a really interesting problem of joining shaped pieces for window muntins.  We love hearing how people use the PantoRouter in ways we haven’t considered!

John uses a flat nose V-Bit to cut the notches at specific intervals using an auxiliary table with stops to make the muntins.

To speed the process, John uses a clever bridge for his air clamp.  It holds the piece in any of four orintations as he batches them out.

The finished pieces are precise and gorgeous!  Since the vertical and horizontal muntins are solid pieces they’re stable and easy to handle.

The muntins are yet to be installed, and the rest of the door stunning!  Excellent work John!  Thanks so much for sharing, especially your process shots, which are very helpful for other PantoRouter owners.
